Neue Regeln für Spukerscheinungen

Das Spielleiterhandbuch enthält die Regeln zur Erschaffung von Spukerscheinungen. Spukerscheinungen können zwar komplexe Gegenspieler sein, sie sind aber auch vielseitige Werkzeuge, um das Drama und die Atmosphäre okkulter Kampagnen darzustellen. Dieser Abschnitt enthält neue Regeln für Spukerscheinungen und genauere Auslegungen früherer Regeln:

Heiliges Wasser

Spukerscheinungen erleiden normalerweise nur durch positive Energie Schaden, allerdings kann auch Weihwasser[link1] gegen sie eingesetzt werden. Eine Flasche (0,5 l) voll Heiligen Wassers, die eine Spukerscheinung als Waffe mit Flächenschaden trifft, verursacht im Falle eines direkten Treffers 2W4 Schadenspunkte bei der Spukerscheinung und 1 Schadenspunkt bei Spukerscheinungen innerhalb von 1,50 m Radius vom Aufschlagspunkt.

An Gegenstände gebundene und von anderen besitzergreifende Spukerscheinungen

Manche Spukerscheinungen sind an bestimmte Gegenstände oder Kreaturen gebunden. Solche Spukerscheinungen erleiden normalen Schaden durch positive Energie und folgen den normalen Regeln hinsichtlich des Rücksetzens für Spukerscheinungen ihrer Art. Böses bannen[link2] kann eine heimsuchende Präsenz hinauswerfen, sofern der Zauber schnell gewirkt wird: Dem Zauberkundigen muss ein Wurf auf die Zauberstufe[link3] gegen SG 10 + HG der Spukerscheinung +1 pro Monat gelingen, den die Kreatur oder der Gegenstand bereits besessen sind.

Gebundene Spukerscheinungen nehmen bei ihrer Erschaffung von Gegenständen Besitz; sie erlangen Mobilität, müssen im Gegenzug ihre tragischen Schicksale aber an leichter zu zerstörende, körperliche Gegenstände binden. Diese Spukerscheinungen manifestieren sich spontan bei Szenen voller Schrecken, da die mentalen Rückstände tragischer Ereignisse in Gegenstände sickern, die mit den Ereignissen verbunden sind. Eine Spukerscheinung, welche einmal an einen Gegenstand gebunden ist, folgt allen normalen Regeln für Spukerscheinungen, allerdings ist das Zentrum ihrer Effekte der von ihr heimgesuchte Gegenstand. Manche Effekte besitzen möglicherweise besondere Auslöser basierend auf der Natur des Gegenstandes, z.B. dass ein heimgesuchtes Instrument dazu gespielt oder eine Waffe genutzt werden muss. Die Anwesenheit des Spuks erhöht den SG für Gegenstand zerschmettern[link4] bei dem von ihm besessenen Gegenstand um 5 und verdoppelt Härte[link5] und Trefferpunkte des Gegenstandes.

Böswillige Geister können Kreaturen ähnlich wie Gegenstände heimsuchen und ihnen auf Schritt und Tritt folgen und dann für seltsame Geschehnisse und poltergeistartige Aktivitäten rund um ihre Opfer sorgen. Dies geschieht aus Rache für eingebildete Einmischung oder die Beteiligung an den tragischen Geschehnissen, welche die Spukerscheinung erschaffen haben. Manchmal scheint es zunächst, dass solche Spukerscheinungen ihren Wirten gegenüber wohlwollend sind, doch letztendlich streben alle die Vernichtung ihrer Wirte an. Von solchen Spukerscheinungen besessene Individuen müssen stets eine Standard-Aktion nutzen, um Gegenstände hervorzuholen, außer die Handlung dauert ohnehin länger. Ferner landet jeder Gegenstand, den der Wirt fallenlässt, 3 m von ihm entfernt in einer zufällig bestimmten Richtung. Ein besitzergreifender Spuk nutzt alle normalen Regeln für Spukerscheinungen; das Zentrum seiner Effekte ist das von ihm heimgesuchte Opfer, welches selbst einen Malus von -2 auf alle Rettungswürfe[link6] gegen die Effekte der Spukerscheinung erleidet. Ein solches Opfer kann nach Maßgabe des SL quälende Träume erleiden, die jeden Tag 1 Punkt Attributsentzug[link7] bei einem zur Spukerscheinung passenden Attribut verursachen.

Angekettete Spukerscheinungen

Manche Spukerscheinungen sind in ihrem Wesen mit körperlosen Untoten verbunden (meist handelt es sich dabei um Geister) und manifestieren sich als Präsentation des zerrissenen Verstandes der mit ihnen assoziierten Kreaturen. Angekettete Spukerscheinungen können nur zerstört werden, indem man die mit ihnen verbundenen Wesenheiten zur letzten Ruhe legt. Man kann sie einsetzen, um die tragische Geschichte eines Geistes aufzuzeigen und zu untermauern. So könnte eine Reihe angeketteter Spukerscheinungen rund um und in einem zerstörten Herrenhaus zu finden sein; die mit ihnen verbundene Kreatur – ein Geist – haust auf dem Dachboden, wo er ermordet wurde, doch in einem Schlafzimmer im ersten Stock könnten sich blutende Wände manifestieren, um einen tragischen Verlust in der Geschichte des Geistes aufzuzeigen; ein Fordernder Toter[link8] könnte einen Eindringling auf dem Gelände dazu bringen, ein nicht sonderlich tiefes Grab im Garten zu öffnen, in welchem die zum Geist gehörende Leiche vergraben wurde, und die Mordwaffe könnte als bösartiger Waffenspuk[link9] in den Korridoren des Herrenhauses umgehen.

Séancen und Kontakt zu Geistern

Manche SC möchten mit neutralisierten (d.h. auf 0 TP reduzierten), aber noch nicht zerstörten Spukerscheinungen sprechen. Egal, über welche Fähigkeiten die Spukerscheinungen eigentlich verfügen oder wie ihre HG sind, könnte ein SL beschließen, neutralisierte Spukerscheinungen während ihrer Ruhephasen als Klopfgeister oder von Toten besitzergreifend darzustellen. Ähnlich kann ein SL mit Geistern und Poltergeistern zwischen Neutralisierung und Wiederkehr verfahren. Auch diese Spukerscheinungen können immer noch furchterweckend oder sogar bösartig auftreten, können nun aber eventuell mittels eines Codes (ein Mal klopfen für „Ja“, zwei Mal für „Nein“) kommunizieren, wenn jemand Worte, Buchstaben oder Zahlen laut nennt. Wer dagegen mit einem Fordernden Toten[link8] kommuniziert, tut dies meist in einer abgedunkelten Séancekammer, oder indem er sich vom Spuk die Hand führen lässt und etwas hinkritzelt. Solche Geister sind in fast immer unzuverlässig, sprechen fast stets in Rätseln und können natürlich nur Kenntnisse weitergeben, die sie zu Lebzeiten besessen haben. Diplomatie[link10], Zauber wie Geist besänftigen[link11]* und eine angenehme Umgebung wie das Dunkel eines Séancezimmers kann helfen, um die Einstellung eines Geistes zu verbessern. Einige Charaktere, die mit Spukerscheinungen kommunizieren wollen, führen flache, mit Buchstaben und Zeichen versehene Tafeln, sogenannte Hexenbretter, kegelförmige Geistersprachrohre oder Tranceschriftschreiber mit sich – kleine, mit Rädern versehene Brettchen, welche mit Kreide oder Kohlestifte bestückt sind. Dies sind nichtmagische Gegenstände, welche in Händen derer, die einen Kontakt auf korrekte Weise auf bauen, enorm helfen können, Botschaften von Spukerscheinungen zu erlangen. Die Kommunikationsgeschwindigkeit wird von zwei Signalen pro Runde (Klopfen, Buchstaben usw.) auf vier Signale pro Runde verdoppelt.

Naheres zu Spukerscheinungen

Wenn Charaktere sich außerhalb der Reichweite einer Spukerscheinung befinden oder gegen ihre geistesbeeinflussenden, furchtbasierenden Effekt immun sind, kann dies zu Problemen bei der Erzählung der Geschichte führen. Diese SC sind oft nicht imstande, die Handlungselemente des Spuks zu erleben, und können daher auch Verbündeten nicht beistehen, welche von einer heimsuchenden Präsenz geplagt werden. Zum Glück sind die Sekundäreffekte einer Spukerscheinung nicht so strikt geregelt; sie sollten die Primäreffekte so widerspiegeln, dass alle SC Zeugen des Geschehens werden können. Wenn Geisterhaftes-Ungeziefer-Spuk[link12] sollte sich optisch immer noch als sichtbares, geisterhaftes Phantom eines huschenden Schwarmes aus Skelettratten manifestieren, selbst wenn die Beobachter sich außerhalb des Wirkungsbereiches befinden oder von den Primäreffekten aus anderen Gründen nicht betroffen werden. Auf diese Weise können nicht nur alle SC anhand der Sekundäreffekte vorhandene Hinweise besser interpretieren, es wird auch besser möglich, von den Primäreffekten betroffene SC zu erkennen und ihnen zu helfen. Aber auch Spukerscheinungen, die Zauber mit anderer Wirkungsdauer als Augenblicklich einsetzen, können problematisch sein. Sollte der Spuk nicht die Eigenschaft Anhaltend besitzen, ist es unklar, ob diese Zauber normal weiterwirken, nachdem die Spukerscheinung ihren Angriff in der Überraschungsrunde ausgeführt hat. Um dieses Debakel zu lösen, sollten Spukerscheinungen mit einer Wirkungsdauer besser als anhaltender Spuk erschaffen werden.
