Vereinfachtes Magiesystem

Ein Magier der 1. Stufe, der gerade einmal eine Handvoll Zauber kennt, hat kaum Probleme zu entscheiden, welche Zauber er jeden Tag vorbereiten will. Ein Magier der 20. Stufe hat aber wenigstens 60 Zauber zur Auswahl, wodurch ihre Auswahl ziemlich zeitaufwändig werden kann, während die anderen Spieler Däumchen drehen.

Bei diesem Vereinfachten Magiesystem führst du nur über deine drei höchsten Zaubergrade Buch, während die anderen Zauber allesamt in einem Vorrat platziert werden, aus dem du sie spontan auswählen kannst. Die Anzahl der Zauber in dieser Auswahl ist geringer als die Anzahl an Zaubern niedrigeren Grades, welche du normalerweise wirken kannst. Allerdings ist die Nutzung des Vorrates flexibler als das Vorbereiten aller Zauber im Voraus, so dass du nur bei deinen wichtigsten Zaubern weitreichende Entscheidungen fällen musst. Da dieses System nur deine 3 höchsten Zaubergrade betrifft, enthält es keine Veränderungen für Charaktere, welche noch keine Zauber des 4. Grades wirken können.

Vereinfachte Magieregeln

Um das beschriebene Vereinfachte Magiesystem zu verwenden, finde zunächst auf Seite 145 die zu deiner Klasse passende Progressionstabelle und konsultiere die Zeile für deine Zauberstufe. Die 3 höchsten Zaubergrade in der Reihe sind jeweils mit einer Zahl aufgeführt, welche die verfügbaren Zauber pro Tag benennt. Diese Anzahl an Zaubern bereitest du wie gewöhnlich vor. Hinzu kommen eventuelle Bonuszauber aufgrund eines Attributswertes. Bei allen anderen verfügbaren Zaubergraden (außer Grad 0) ist der Buchstabe “W” aufgeführt, um niedrigstufigere Zauber zu benennen, die du über deinen Wahlvorrat wirkst.

Du kannst jeden Tag spontan eine Anzahl an Zaubern niedrigerer Grade von der Zauberliste deiner Klasse wirken. Diese Zahl findest du in der Spalte Wahlvorrat in der Zeile für deine Klassenstufe. Der Zaubergrad ist dabei egal, solange er in deinen Wahlvorrat fällt – wenn du z.B. fünf Zauber am Tag aus deinem Wahlvorrat wirken kannst, wäre es egal, ob du fünf Zauber des 1. Grades, fünf Zauber des 2. Grades oder eine Mischung daraus wirkst, solange die betroffenen Zauber sich auf deiner Zauberliste bzw. in deinem Zauberbuch befinden und die üblichen Vorbereitungsanforderungen sowie alle anderen Einschränkungen erfüllen, die möglicherweise aus deiner Klassenzugehörigkeit oder anderen Fähigkeiten resultieren. Einschränkungen z.B. hinsichtlich Zauber der entgegengesetzten Gesinnung gelten immer noch. Die Zauberplätze deines Wahlvorrates erneuern sich nach 8 Stunden Rast; alle Effekte, welche dich daran hindern, Zauber vorzubereiten, verhindern auch, dass sich dein Wahlvorrat erneuert.

Dein Wahlvorrat wird größer, wenn du über einen hohen Attributsbonus in deinem magischen Schlüsselattribut verfügst, ähnlich wie du Bonuszauber für Zaubergrade erhältst, auf denen du Zaubersprüche noch vorbereiten musst. Füge deinem Wahlvorrat eine Anzahl an Zaubern in Höhe von ¼ deines magischen Schlüsselattributsmodifikators hinzu. Sollte deine Klasse dir Bonuszauber aus einer sehr beschränkten Liste verleihen (z.B. Domänenzauber, Totemzauber o.ä.), erlangst du diese Zauber neben deinem Wahlvorrat. Sollte deine Klasse dir Bonuszauber aus einer geringfügig limitierten Liste verleihen (z.B. Zauber der Magierschule), so erhältst du für deinen Wahlvorrat einen zusätzlichen Zauberplatz pro Tag, den du nur für Zauber dieser Art verwenden kannst (mit der 13. Stufe erhältst du einen weiteren Zauberplatz mit denselben Einschränkungen).
Beispiel: Ein Magier (Nekromant) der 13. Stufe mit einem Intelligenzwert[link1] von 26 hätte fünf plus zwei Zauber in seinem Wahlvorrat – drei, weil er ein Magier der 13. Stufe ist, zwei für seinen hohen Intelligenzmodifikator[link2] (+8 geteilt durch 4), sowie zwei weitere Zauber pro Tag, die er nur für Zauber der Schule der Nekromantie nutzen kann. Er könnte mit dem Wahlvorrat seine Zauber der Grade 1 – 4 wirken, müsste seine Zauber der Grade 5 – 7 aber immer noch vorbereiten.

Mehrere Zauberplätze aufwenden: Solltest du über eine Klassenfähigkeit verfügen, die das Aufwenden mehrerer Zauberplätze erfordert, sei es die Offenbarung Kampfheiler eines Mystikers der Schlacht oder ein Zauber aus einer verbotenen Magierschule, so musst du eine entsprechende Anzahl an Zauberplätzen aus deinem Wahlvorrat nutzen, um diese Fähigkeit einzusetzen. Wenn unser Beispielmagier die Schule der Beschwörung als Verbotene Schule besäße, müsste er zwei Zauberplätze aufwenden, um Monster herbeizaubern II[link3] zu wirken.

Andere Zauberkundige

Dieses System steht zwar auch anderen Zauberkundigen offen, allerdings gewinnen sie dabei vergleichsweise wenig, da sie ihre Zauber nicht im Voraus auswählen und vorbereiten müssen und/oder im Vergleich über eine vergleichbare Anzahl an Zaubern verfügen, wie sie sie über den Wahlvorrat erlangen würden. Dieses System findet keine Anwendung bei Zauberkundigen wie Paladinen oder Waldläufern, welche nur Zauber der Grade 1 – 4 erhalten, da sie über derart wenige Zauberplätze verfügen, dass sie nicht mit denselben zeitlichen Problemen wie andere Zauberkundige zu kämpfen haben.

Metamagie

Wenn ein Zauberkundiger ein metamagisches Talent nutzt, um einen Zauber aus seinem Wahlvorrat zu modifizieren, wird er wie ein spontaner Zauberkundiger behandelt (der Zeitaufwand des Zaubers steigt auf eine Volle Aktion), Der Zauber muss auch modifiziert immer noch vom Grad her in deinen Wahlvorrat fallen. Andernfalls musst er einen seiner Zauberplätze nutzen, um ihn vorzubereiten. Unser Beispielmagier (Nekromant) der 13. Stufe könnte also einen in der Zauberreichweite erhöhten Feuerball[link4] mit seinem Wahlvorrat wirken, müsste einen verstärkten Feuerball[link4] aber in einem Zauberplatz des 5. Grades vorbereiten, da Zauber des 5. Grades nicht Teil seines Wahlvorrates sind.

Perlen der Macht

Eine Perle der Macht kann genutzt werden, um Zauberplätze bei Zaubergraden zurückzuerlangen, welche du vorbereitest, nicht aber Zauberplätze deines Wahlvorrates. Ein Runenstein der Macht[link5]ABR VI dagegen ermöglicht es dem Zauberwirkenden, einen Zauber zu wirken, ohne dabei einen Zauberplatz seines Wahlvorrates zu verbrauchen. Der Zauber muss dabei denselben Grad wie der Runenstein besitzen bzw. dessen Wirkungseffekt unterfallen und vom Grad her Teil deines Wahlvorrates sein, kein vorbereiteter Zauber.
